Matthew McConaughey Is Cast In Gus Van Sant’s Sea Of Trees

The in-demand actor, Matthew McConaughey, has been cast in Van Sant’s latest film Sea of Trees.

Matthew McConaughey’s “Mcconaisance” shows no signs of slowing down with an announcement today that he has been cast in Gus Van Sant’s latest offering, Sea Of Trees.

The in-demand actor has had a resurgence in the last couple of years beginning with Magic Mike through Killer Joe, Mud and most recently The Wolf of Wall Street and Dallas Buyers Club the latter of which he is a shoo in to win Best Actor at the Oscars next week.

Sea of Trees though is written by Chris Sparling (Buried) and features McConaughey as a man heading into the “Suicide Forest” at the bottom of Mount Fuji with the sole intention of killing himself. However, another man (Ken Watanabe) is also there to do the same thing, but has a change of heart and ends up also preventing McConaughey’s character doing the deed as well. They then existentially reflect on life and how they got to this point.

No additional casting or filming dates have been agreed to yet.

After Dallas Buyers Club’s release at the weekend, McConaughey will next be seen in the eagerly anticipated Interstellar, Christopher Nolan’s next film, out in November.
