Matt Damon has long been linked with a return to the role of Jason Bourne, arguably the role that made him into the huge star that he is today. Yesterday he reiterated this stance and that a return may still be on the cards.
In 2012, the fourth Bourne film,The Bourne Legacy was released, without Damon starring or Paul Greengrass directing and it wasn’t quite as well received as the rest of the series. Despite this, a fifth film has been announced, with Jeremy Renner returning in the lead role.
Speaking to CNBC, Damon explained that if Greengrass made another one, then he may consider a comeback: “I’ve always been open to it if Paul Greengrass is the director. We’ve just never been able to come up with a story.”
He continued: “It felt like such a good way to end it last time, ” referring to the conclusion of The Bourne Ultimatum. “Having said that, I love that character. I’d love to see what happened to him.”
Bourne 5 is due in cinemas August 14 2015.
