With the release of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 to DVD and Blu-ray, fans have turned their attention to the franchises’ future. With the uncertainty of The Amazing Spider-Man 3 release date and question regarding what the Venom/Carnage movie will be, questions have started to be answered as to what shape the upcoming Sinister Six movie will take.
In the Blu-ray special features disc for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Marc Webb reveals some of the clues as to what’s happening in the Sinister Six movie, including the identity of the shadowy figure in both the after-credits scenes of The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, how the Sinister Six will be brought together and ways in which Norman Osborn could be brought back.
“The man in the hat is now, we think of him as The Gentleman who is a benefactor of the Sinister Six.” Said Webb, explaining how all the films tie together, “They all emerge from Oscorp and that they are corralled by The Gentleman… they are sort of the mercenaries of Oscorp and the most unruly, beastly set of characters.”
However Webb also says the identities of the Six have yet to be decided:
“It’s tricky because we’re not exactly sure if all those people are gonna be in The Sinister Six, or even in the next movie,”
So there is a lot still in doubt about the future of Spider-Man. What has been confirmed is that The Sinister Six will be directed by Drew Goddard and is scheduled to be released 11 November, 2016.
