Warner Bros. have set a release date for the Mad Max reboot. ‘Mad Max: Fury Road‘ will be in cinemas on May 15 2015, 30 years after the release of the last installment, ‘Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome‘.

Fury Road will the the forth film in the post apocalyptic series of films from 1979 to 1985. It is an inter-prequel from original writer and director George Miller set inbeween the first and second films documenting Max’s downfall in the wastes. Mel Gibson’s burnt out highway patrolman will this time be played by British actor Tom Hardy.

Originally planned as an anime style adult cartoon, the production returned to its native Australia as a full live action move, with emphasis on the word action. Because of production troubles, the shooting was moved to Namibia and finalised in december 2012. The Namibian Coast Conservation and Management group then accused the producers of damaging parts of the Namib Desert so it should be pretty awesome.

Despite shooting being almost complete and the massive length of time spent on this film, very little has been publicly announced by its producers. Big stars Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, and a video game accompaniment make it seem billed as a major release but we’re yet to hear much about it.

Being big fans of the original trilogy, we’re very excited for its eventual release and advise everyone to see the character that made Mel Gibson famous. Go watch the original trilogy now, and make sure you switch the DVD language from English to Australian for the proper maddening experience.
