Lego Movie Sequel Is Being Crafted Already

Warner Bros. have announced that a sequel is already in the works for The Lego Movie that is released this weekend

With The Lego Movie not even officially released until the weekend, fans would be forgiven for thinking that Warner Bros may have rushed into green-lighting a sequel to it already. However, given the critical response to the previews and a current rare 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it seems that the studio is keen to cash in on what is expected to be a huge hit.

The first film is released on Friday and has a frankly incredible vocal-cast including Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Charlie Day, Channing Tatum, Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman. It features Emmet Brickowski (Pratt) as an every-man who discovers that he might be the savour of all lego-kind as he is mistaken for the Master Builder of the Lego Universe. He has to battle alongside Batman (Arnett), Metalbeard (Offerman) and Superman (Tatum) against Ferrell’s Lord Business.

Considering the first film took 3 years to build, it makes sense for Warner Bros to get an early start on the project. With directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s careers taking off (they also have 22 Jump Street coming out this year) they will want to ensure that they keep the duo on the project as much as possible.
