The Assassin’s Creed movie adaptation has been in development for a number of years now with Michael Fassbender attached to play the lead, but until now he was the only name involved.

Good news however because today has brought the news that a director may have been found in the form of Justin Kurzel. The Australian is currently making Macbeth with Fassbender starring as the famous Scot and the thinking is that they continue their working relationship into Creed with Kurzel in talks with Ubisoft and New Regency.

Safe House director Daniel Espinosa was recently in the running for the gig, but he is no longer attached, choosing to instead direct Child 44.

20th Century Fox have already set a release date of next year and so are looking to rush this into production as soon as possible. Hopefully with a director confirmed, the rest should fall into place as well. Whether Fassbender will be involved is another matter though with his notoriously busy schedule.
