John Turturro Wants A Big Lebowski Spin-Off

The actor, who briefly starred in the Coen Brothers film, has been talking about creating a spin-off featuring his character, Jesus Quintana

John Turturro is a very prolific, but underrated actor. Having starred in over seventy Hollywood movies, he still isn’t quite the household name that you would expect. Of these seventy plus movies, four of them have been collaborations with the Coen Brothers, with roles in Miller’s Crossing, Barton Fink, O Brother, Where Art Thou and The Big Lebowski.

Given his recent venturing into directing as well, he has decided that the time is right to finally create something that has been in the back of his mind for a while now; a spin-off from The Big Lebowski featuring his character, Jesus Quintana.

In the movie, Quintana was The Dude’s rival at the bowling alley and something of a perverted creep to boot. John Goodman’s character Walter Sobchak describes him as: “a sex offender with a record. He did six months in Chino for exposing himself to an 8-year-old. When he moved to Hollywood he had to go door-to-door to tell everyone he was a pederast.”

Although Tuturro is keen to get the project off the ground, Joel and Ethan Coen on the other hand are not quite as enthusiastic, stating last year: “He talks incessantly about it. He even has the story worked out, which he’s pitched to us a few times, but I can’t really remember it. I don’t see it in our future.”

Turturro though is determined to fulifil his dream and has confirmed that: “If I can get the permission I need, I’d really like to return to that role.”
