Jason Stratham and James Franco are to star in a new action movie written by Sylvester Stallone.
Well, when I say written by Stallone what I meant was the movie will be based on a book series originally written by Chuck Logan and ‘Rocky’ star Sylvester will be scripting it, whilst also producing.
So what’s it about? Stratham will be playing former drug enforcement officer who moves his family to a quiet town in hopes to escape his past. But of course something has to shake up his little plan – so in comes Gator Bodine (played by Franco) who is the town’s notorious crystal meth dealer. The movie titled ‘Homefront’ will also be directed by ‘Kiss the Girls’ director Gary Fleder.
Stallone and Stratham, both starring in ‘The Expendables 2’ coming out next month, are used to throwing themselves into action roles such as this, however, Franco known not only for being an actor, but an artist, lecturer and novelist as well may not be such a predictable choice – but cast your memory back to 2011’s ‘The Green Hornet’ where funnily enough, James actually played a crystal meth dealer named Danny Clear. So not completely out of his comfort zone with this one.
Franco also has a number of movies coming our way, including porn biopic ‘Lovelace’, in which he will be appearing as Hugh Hefner and (then perhaps playing the complete opposite of Hef) he will be playing Wizard of Oz in Sam Raimi‘s ‘Oz: The Great and Powerful’ – which you can see a preview of by clicking here.
Shooting for ‘Homefront’ is said to be starting at the end of September 2012.
