Director Jean-Marc Vallee has already started the casting process for his brand new film Demolition, due to the huge success Dallas Buyers Club had at the Oscars this year. The director has his sights set on the extremely talented Jake Gyllenhaal, and the actor is said to be “very interested”.
Demolition follows an investment banker who falls into emotional turmoil after the death of his young wife. Becoming obsessed with what went wrong, the character tears his life apart until he meets a random woman.
We know it sounds a bit unoriginal, but Vallee prides himself on those emotional artistic pieces rather than spectacle and we all know Gyllenhaal can deliver.
Vallee, when questioned about his involvement with Demolition, stated, “Demolition is such a powerful and touching story, written with a strong and sincere desire to try to understand the human psyche, what makes us so unique, so special, what makes us love. This is a script of a rare quality, of a beautiful humanity.”
No reports on when shooting starts but you can catch Jake Gyllenhaal in journalist drama Nightcrawler and adventure pic Everest.
