Idris Elba Joins ‘The Jungle Book’

Idris Elba is to voice Shere Khan in the upcoming Jungle Book live-action film.

Idris Elba is the first star to join the cast of the upcoming live-action movie, The Jungle Book.

Pacific Rim‘ star Elba will voice tiger Shere Khan in Disney’s new adaptation, which is to be directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man). The film is said to be a mixture of both live-action and CGI, which Elba’s Khan will be created with.

The story focuses on feral child, Mowgli, as he lives in the Indian jungle along with various wild animals.

Disney’s previous animated version of the story was released in 1967, and is based on the original novel by Rudyard Kipling. The new adaptation is set to begin production this summer, for a 2015 release.

Warner Bros will also be producing a live-action Jungle Book film, although a director has yet to be announced.

Disney’s The Jungle Book will be released in the US on October, 9 2015 however a UK date has not been confirmed.
