It has been known that the Star Wars director has done everything in his power to suck the life out of this global phenomenon. By adding new CGI scenes to the 1997 releases, releasing all new 3D versions of the franchise and now claiming that Han Solo is not the cold blooded, dangerous killer everyone thought.
It is clear to see that in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, Han Solo shoots the alien bounty hunter Greedo first to try and escape. However, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Lucas stated that alien bounty hunter Greedo shot Han first before the rebel gunned Greedo back in retaliation.
Lucas explained, “I put a little wider shot in there that made it clear that Greedo is the one who shot first, but everyone wanted to think that Han shot first, because they wanted to think that he actually just gunned him down”.
After 35 years of die-hard Star Wars fans believing Han was this cool, dangerous and rebellious character willing to kill off all those who stand in his way, Lucas shot them all down (excuse the pun!) by insisting that they all misunderstood Harrison Ford’s character and that really he is just a “kinda nice guy”.
Surely George Lucas hasn’t reached another all time low?
If you haven’t seen or remember this controversial scene, then check out the video below. It is quite obvious that Greedo does not get the chance to shoot Han first. What was Lucas thinking?
