Here at Hit The Floor, we have already enlightened you all about Chloe Moretz’s desire for the role of misfit Carrie White, but now we have some more casting news for you. Gabriella Wilde has decided to join the ranks for the remake of De Palma’s 1976 horror feature; Carrie.
Wilde is relatively new on the whole film scene so we hope her performance does not hinder the film and that she will portray her character with rawness and naivety. After all the film is set in a high school!
In the original take on Stephen King’s novel, Miss Collins the gym teacher is concerned about Carrie and is probably the only character that actually cares for the youngster. Director Kimberly Peirce has managed to get Judy Greer to agree to take on the challenging role from her impressive performances in The Descendents and Jeff Who Lives At Home.
Amazingly, original writer Stephen King has decided to come aboard the remake train and write the screenplay for Peirce’s adaptation too. This means then, that the remake should be pretty close to the original. Got to love a good faithful remake!
Of course the casting is still not complete, next to be cast is Carrie’s enemy and meanest of the mean girls; Chris Hargensen. The rumour mill was working overtime to find out who the potential Hargensen could be and some said Pans Labyrinth’s Ivana Baquero had the role. But we can tell you it is indeed just a rumour, the role is still open. However, time is running out, filming starts at the end of June and the film is set to release in March next year!
Peirce needs to hurry things along… and quickly!
