Here at Hit The Floor, we have been keeping you up-to-date with all things Carrie way before it was in production. Finally we can now show you the first ever image brought to us by Screen Gems. Get ready for a whole lot of blood!
The image of Carrie’s mother Margaret White played by Julianne Moore is a pretty standard image. The Christ loving, slightly delusional character showcased in the images by wearing a white floor length nightgown; mentally tortures her daughter due to Carrie’s magical abnormality. However, the image on the left is slightly more interesting. Director Kimberly Peirce has bravely decided to go with the infamous image of Carrie covered head to toe in blood at her high school prom. According to the director; she wanted to get the comparisons between this modern adaptation and Brian De Palma’s 1976 version out of the way before she can start expressing her unique twist on the tale. Peirce also stated that she wanted to go back to the original source of Stephen King‘s novel to gain her inspiration instead of focusing on De Palma’s film.
When asked how she prepared for the role; Chloe Moretz told Empire, “Carrie’s completely different from me. It’s an out-of-body thing: I’m becoming a totally different person for it. We’re really looking into Carrie’s mind this time. It’s going to be more psychological: more Black Swan.” When discussing the gore scene, Moretz stated; “We only had like four chances to get it right. That stuff stains your hair…”
If these images have really intrigued you like they have for us then Carrie will be released here in the UK April 12th next year! Can’t wait!
