Fake Nicolas Cage Films Being Sold At Cannes

This year at Cannes’ film market, films were being sold on the basis of having Nicolas Cage involved – even if he had no involvement at all.

Producers have been found to be shopping around projects which claim to star the popular actor Cage even though he has never signed up.

At this year’s Cannes film market, where hundreds of film deals and distribution are cut, films like Red Squad and Dark Highway were being sold on the idea that Nicolas Cage would be involved although he declined to appear in them.

Cage’s manager Mike Nilon said: “It floods the market with product that’s not necessarily 100 percent real.” “If there are six or seven projects being talk about by any actor, then it dilutes the purchase price. If I came to you and said,’Would you like a steak dinner?’, you’d probably say yes. If I offered you eight, you’d probably say no.”

Red Squad is the first film being made by Die Hard director John McTiernan since he was released from prison, after he was jailed last year for making false statements about his use of a private investigator. Hannibal Classics who produce the film claim that Cage was interested and that he walked away just before the festival.
