Normally, marketing teams slap the faces of the biggest stars on the promotional posters to pull in a massive audience. But not Lionsgate! The company have decided to pursue the classier route of illustrated posters for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Firstly, we had those awesome character portraits that showcased something from a fashion magazine. Now, Lionsgate have released a faux oil painting of Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) looking pretty majestic. Check out the poster below!
Straight from author Suzanne Collins’ mouth, the tag line states, “The sun persists on rising, so I make myself stand”. These words fit perfectly with what is going on in the poster. Katniss is standing on a cliff edge, looking over – what we can only guess – as the arena, with wing shaped clouds supporting her and the sun rising in the background. We have to admit that this poster has been cleverly produced and really encapsulates the heroics of the character.
Catching Fire follows the 74th Annual Hunger Games victor’s Katniss and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) as they embark on a “Victor’s Tour”. Meaning ,they must go to all the other districts and remind the people that their tributes died for no reason. However, President Snow (Donald Sutherland) is still not impressed with Katniss’s stunt with the poisonous berries in the last games and has organised a 75th Annual Hunger Games (the Quarter Quell) all of Panem will remember!
Francis Lawrence is directing the second instalment. He will be directing talents such as Lawrence, Hutcherson, Sutherland, Liam Hemsworth, Jena Malone, Sam Claflin, Stanley Tucci, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks and Philip Seymour Hoffman, among others.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will shoot its way to our cinema screens on November 22nd!
