Edgar Ramirez To Take Over From Gerard Butler In Point Break

Edgar Ramirez is set to take Gerard Butler’s role on the Point Break remake

Gerard Butler recently left the Point Break remake project “due to creative differences” and it looks like there is finally a replacement as Edgar Ramirez is set to take over.

The actor, famous for his roles in Zero Dark Thirty and The Bourne Ultimatum, is currently in talks with production company Alcon Entertainment regarding the role of Bodhi. The role, which was played by Patrick Swayze in the original film, was to be Gerard Butler’s until he walked away. Ray Winstone was also added to the cast recently as Agent Pappas.

The remake will follow the footsteps of the original, telling the story of an FBI agent infiltrating the criminal underworld. This time, however, the antagonists will be extreme sports enthusiasts.

Directed by Ericson CorePoint Break doesn’t yet have an official UK release date but will open in cinemas in the US on 7 August 2015.
