Two big Hollywood stars could feature in Jon Favreau’s adaption of The Jungle Book. Scarlett Johansson and Lupita Nyong’o are in talks with Disney to star in the film.
The actresses would join Idris Elba (Pacific Rim) who is already in place to voice the tiger, Shere Khan. Scarlett Johansson who plays Black Widow in The Avengers franchise is expected to lend her voice to Kaa, the hypnotic python in the novel. While Lupita Nyong’o who won Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards for her role in 12 Years A Slave would voice Rakcha, the mother wolf who looks after Mowgli.
The film will be a combination of live-action and CGI and production is set to get underway in the coming months, with The Jungle Book set to be released in 2D and 3D in the US on 29 October 2015.
