The world of film has been bracing some gloomy news lately what with Jim Carrey snubbing the ‘Dumb & Dumberer’ sequel, causing it’s total collapse, Mads Mikkelsen leaving ‘Thor 2’ and the release of ‘Magic Mike’ (cringe!) but here’s something we can all look forward to!
Arnold Schwarzenegger, known for ‘The Terminator’ and being former govenor of California (which together can only make him The Governator), confirmed there will be a sequel to 1988’s comedy hit ‘Twins’ whilst promoting ‘The Expendables 2’ at Comic Con earlier this week. When asked about it’s developments the big man Arnie himself said; “I think they have moved it along, and Ivan Reitman has shown interest in being involved. Universal is excited about it. I’m looking forward to doing it, because I think it will be hilarious.”
Ivan Reitman directed Arnie and co-star Danny DeVito way back in 1988 and would later team up for ‘Kindergarden Cop’ and ‘Junior’.
In June DeVito appeared as a guest on the UK the Graham Norton Show and confirmed the sequel will be called ‘Triplets’, with Eddie Murphy being the third brother. It’s okay, you can laugh, it’s meant to be funny!
If you were unfortunately boring enough to have not see the first movie DeVito and Schwarzenegger played twins Julius and Vincent who were conceived through an experiment and then separated at birth. Julius inherited all the “desirable traits” and was raised by a team of philosophers went in search of his twin brother Vincent, who was placed in an orphanage and got saddled with “genetic trash”. It’s hilarious, and a 1980’s comedy classic.
Schwarzenegger meanwhile will next be making an appearance in Sylvester Stallone‘s ‘The Expendables 2’ and DeVito is currently in ‘The Sunhsine Boys’ play at London Savoy Theatre and was the voice of ‘The Lorax’ in upcoming Doctor Zeus’ 3D-CGI adaptation coming out 27 July.
