A woman out shopping made a terrible mistake and took off her engagement ring costing almost £6000. The ring was left in a H&M dressing room in New York City after she took it off to try on some clothes. It was a custom-made engagement ring, which was obviously very expensive and had an enormous amount of sentimental value, so how can this woman be so careless with such a precious item?
The police said of the incident:
“The 23-year-old told police that she took off the ring as she tried on clothes, and forgot to put the custom-made band back on before heading out of the room. A few minutes after leaving the store, at about 2:15 p.m., she realized what she had done, but the ring was already missing when she returned, according to police reports.”
CCTV footage from the dressing room shows several women going in the dressing room after the engagement ring was left, but there is no evidence any of them took it.
We can’t help but wonder what part of trying clothes on requires you to take off a ring? Surely it can’t have been so big that she couldn’t put clothes on whilst wearing it. Also, if she really did need to take it off, why didn’t she put it somewhere a little more safer like a purse, bag or a pocket? It is mind blowing that someone could be so absent-minded and just walk away, leaving £6000’s worth of jewellery in a shop dressing room! Whatever the reason we hope she doesn’t make the same mistake again, if her fiance forgives her!
