Legendary actress Winona Ryder is going to become the new face of Rag & Bone, it has been revealed. She will star in the brand’s autumn/winter 2014 advertising campaign, following in the footsteps of Kate Moss and Léa Seydoux.
Although Ryder isn’t unfamiliar with the fashion world, up until this point she hadn’t starred in any advertising campaigns for 10 years; she fronted Marc Jacobs‘ spring/summer 2003 ad campaign, which famously caught a lot of media attention as Ryder was arrested for shoplifting over $5000 worth of designer goods from a department store, including pieces by Marc Jacobs, back in 2001.
Marcus Wainwright, Rag & Bone’s managing partner, said of Ryder, “To us, [she] is a bona fide icon. One of the things that makes her so cool is that, although she has this incredible career, she isn’t interested in being a movie star“.
Wainwright also mentioned that the actress has a “beautiful, timeless quality“, something which rings true in her shots for Rag & Bone. Photographed by Glen Luchford, Ryder is depicted as a stripped-back beauty in black and white.
