Urban Outfitters has just opened its biggest retail store in the world. The New York store even contains a bike shop, coffee shop, hairdressers and a beauty department. A beauty department that stands at a whopping 1,500 square feet.
The store opening marks a new era for Urban Outfitters within the beauty market. Commenting on the brands new direction Urban Outfitters’s executive director of women’s apparel and accessories, Laura Johnson said: “We’re a lifestyle company. It’s not just about the clothes. It’s about personalization and beauty is a big part of that.”
All the products from the NY store can be found online, so if you love searching and trying out new products, Urban Outfitters is the place for you. UO adds about 10 new beauty brands per month and if you’ve been waiting to get your hands on the much blogged Korean products is now also officially the biggest U.S. distributor of Korean beauty brands.
Johnson said that the new ranges she is most excited about are Korean brands, Skin Care brand Mizon and color line Holika Holika. We’re not sure if that is ‘excited’ personally for her or for the benefit of the store, but considering that Johnson noted that the category of anti-aging and other skin treatment products has had the largest growth in the stores beauty department over the last few years, we think we have a clue!
