Following a repeat of last July, American retail company, Urban Outfitters is in another lawsuit with customers who stated they had been “tricked” into giving out their zip codes.
It seems the company had not learnt their lesson from their previous lawsuit, as they are once again in hot water with a customer who shopped at Free People, Urban Outfitters subsidiary company.
Claimant Lauren Miller has sought a lawsuit as she was upset that the company asked her for her zip code, even though the debit card she used did not require it. The company then used the zip code to send her junk mail.
According to Law360, “Urban Outfitters Inc. subsidiary Free People LLC violated fair business laws by collecting customers’ ZIP codes during credit card transactions and using the information to send them junk mail, according to a putative class action removed to Massachusetts federal court Monday.”
