March 14th, the fashion industry was rocked by disturbing news with an announcement that one of their own had suddenly passed away. Model, stylist and designer L’Wren Scott who was 49 years old, had according to sources committed suicide.

In an emotional tribute, Scotts’ partner of 13 years Sir Mick Jagger posted a statement on his website: “I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way.

We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves. She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me.”

When the news broke, the frontman for the Rolling Stones was on tour in Australia, but have had to cancel their show. The fashion world has also come out in full force to pay their respects.

Naomi Cambell took to Instagram with a picture of her and the late Scott, captioned with: “I am deeply shocked and devastated by the news. L’Wren was someone I knew since I was 17. We travelled the world together many times. L’Wren was someone I always loved. She was the epitome of elegance and femininity yet still had a girlish quality. I will miss her honesty and I will miss her friendship. My heart goes out to Mick and all who loved her and were loved by her. May she rest in peace.”

Vogue USA editor Anna Wintour: I am deeply saddened by the loss of L’Wren Scott. L’Wren was a total perfectionist, someone who absolutely embodied everything her marvelous clothes stood for: strength of character combined with a confident and powerful style. In person L’Wren was always unbelievably generous, gracious, kind and so much fun. Her old world American manners and charm were from another time, but her sensibility was always fiercely modern. We will all miss her.”

Tributes also poured in on social media site Twitter, with stars, models, singers, actresses and designers alike posting tweets about the tragic loss to the fashion industry.
