Karl Lagerfeld is one of the most famous fashion designers in the world, making collaborations left right and centre, but now for something new. Lagerfeld’s next line of work will be making “world’s smallest pair of fingerless gloves” says WWD, since he will be working with toy giant Mattel to create a Lagerfeld inspired Barbie, marking the doll’s 55th birthday this year.
“It’s not everyday that Barbie dresses like the world’s most famous fashion designer.” says Kim Culmone, Global vice president of Barbie product design.
The doll will feature items from the women’s Karl Lagerfeld collection but will more or less be dressed in the fashion designers iconic attire. Wearing the high collared white shirt and tailored black jacket, with skinny black jeans and accessorising with fat necktie, ankle boots and of course the signature black sunglasses.
At this stage it doesn’t matter how old you are, with a Lagerfeld Barbie being made, we’re not too old for dolls. More details are to be released at a later date.
