Marc Jacobs opened a ‘Tweet Shop’ in Covent Garden last weekend to promote their fragrance Daisy. The shop was unlike any ordinary shop in that no money changed hands. The transactions were based entirely on the customer’s use of the hashtag #MJDaisyChain on Twitter. The London-based shop opened on Friday and closed its doors on Sunday.
Over the weekend customers were welcomed into the shop and had use of a comfortable lounge area and offered drinks and free wi-fi. There was Daisy-themed artwork by Langley Fox giving it a more homely vibe, a Marc Jacobs nail bar for fashionistas to get manicures and a photo booth and Vine booth to capture the fun.
Marc Jacobs have said that the shop was a “gift to Marc’s many fans and followers”. They launched their first Daisy Marc Jacobs Tweet Shop at New York Fashion Week in February and a Daisy Dream Room, which opened in London’s Westfield White City in July.
Hopefully there will be many more Tweet Shops to come!
