Luella Bartley and Katie Hillier‘s debut for Marc by Marc Jacobs AW14 was a triumph, celebrating girl power in the best possible way. We loved the clothes, but we were particularly impressed by the footwear: high top trainers.
Trainers on the catwalk has become something of a ‘thing’ over the last few seasons, largely thanks to Karl Lagerfeld‘s influence at Chanel, and we couldn’t be more pleased; a simple sports shoe (which, let’s admit, most of us already have a pair of in our wardrobes) is now en vogue! Time to dust off your Converse, ladies! Or perhaps you’re more of a Nike girl… all that matters is that your trainer covers your ankles.
There’s something about high tops, though, that sometimes has us stumped when it comes to styling them. We’re not talking about when you throw on a pair on your way to the gym, or when you’re walking the dog – pull on a pair of leggings and you’re good to go – we’re talking about how these trainers can work in a fashionable context? Classic, ‘low-cut’ Supergas and New Balances we’ve just about got the hang of, but high tops?
For your assistance, we’ve put together a small gallery of images that will demonstrate all the ways in which high tops can be worn. They are versatile, trust us!
