MAC cosmetics are having a bit of a dark season as their collaboration with Lorde featuring a range of purple lipsticks is getting ready for release in June. The company have also been creating a collection for the upcoming Disney movie Maleficent, starring Angelina Jolie as the main role. It’s no wonder  the brand have been working on a range inspired by the movie as Angelina looks stunning, with a perfectly pale complexion, sultry red lips and razor sharp cheekbones (we’re not sure, but we have a feeling that may be down to prosthetics rather than a little contouring). The collection manages to keep the dramatic edge and is evocative of Maleficent’s evil character, whilst remaining wearable.

MAC have created a number of items in a range of bold, dramatic colours. They have made a full face look including eye shadow palettes, eye lashes and a lush red lipstick fit for the glamorous, evil queen, which is also accompanied by a matching lipgloss and liner. For those of us who long for perfectly arched eyebrows, like Angelina’s in the film, there are eye brow pencils to help us on our way. Anyone who is ready to try contouring should try the sculpting powder, but if you’re aiming for the Maleficent cheekbones, just remember Jolie was wearing prosthetics so keep expectations reasonable. There are also three nail polish shades in “Flaming Rose” red, “Nocturnelle” black and “Uninvited” beige.

In 2010, MAC released a “Venemous Villain collection” inspired by four notorious Disney baddies. Sleeping Beauty’s Maleficent featured in this collection, as well as Cruella de Vil, Snow White’s Evil Queen and The Princess and the Frog’s Dr. Falicier. Now Maleficent has a second collection, we assume the first collection must have been a hit for the company.

The collection is available online from May 8 an in stores from May 15. For more information visit
