When you think of denim jeans there is usually one name that comes to mind, Levi’s!
Founded back in 1853 (yes, that long ago), Levi’s burst on the scene and quickly became one of the biggest jeans brands in the world; mainly thanks to their famous 1985 Levi’s 501 advert which got everyone’s attention as male model Nick Kamen stripped down to his boxers in a Laundrette (see video below). Suddenly all girls wanted their men in 501’s and all men went out and got them; obviously.
Shoot forward to 2015 and Levi’s and now looking to update their classic jeans with the new 501 CT; the CT standing for ‘Custom Tapered’.
Jonathan Cheung, SVP of Global design said, “After hemming, tapering the leg of the 501 jeans is the most requested alterations in Levi’s stores and tailor shops around the world, we decided to do it for you, creating the 501 CT and the perfect custom taper”
This updated Jean also brings a lot of flexibility and allows it to be worn in a number of ways. You can ‘down-size’ and wear 1 or 2 sizes smaller for a slim and modern fit, ‘up-size’ 1 or 2 sizes for a more relaxed fit, or go ‘true to size’ for that classic, original fit.
Chief product officer Karyn Hillman said, “Like the 501, the great thing about the CT is you can wear it many different ways. I love wearing mine slouchy and relaxed, sitting low on my hips with a cuff at the ankle. I almost always wear them with a great boot or heels.”
