How many cats do you know who have launched a make-up line? Nada. Karl Lagerfeld’s cat Choupette will be the very first household pet to get her claws on to a beauty brand.
The furry feline will star as the new (furry) face of the Japanese cosmetic company’s limited edition make-up line with Shu Uemura, entitled, Shu-pette. Expect furry false lashes and “claw” nail polishes.
Lagerfeld has already photographed his feline friend for the campaign, which will be unveiled alongside Choupette’s début novel, out in September, titled, Choupette: The Private Life of a High-Flying Fashion Cat. The book details everything you could ever know wish to know about the cat and her luxury lifestyle, from fashion advice, to her loves and pet hates. She does sound like a curious cat. Lagerfeld said in 2012, “She is like a kept woman. She has a strong personality. She has lunch and dinner with me on the table, with her own food. She can even use an iPad.”
“Miss Choupette loves Latin but hates opera,” he said. “But I only listen to music if she is awake. Her grooming routine is a lot of work. She has two maids because she doesn’t like to be alone. They do all the brushing – she’s beyond spoilt and sleeps on the back of my bed.”
With over 50,000 followers on her personal Instagram and Twitter accounts, we expect this just might be a big hit. Whilst you wait for September, why not check out her impressive collection of “selfies“?
