Photographer extraordinaire, David Bailey has just shot the new Karen Millen A/W 2013 campaign with stylist Katy England and the result are sublime, as you would expect from two fashion geniuses .
Katy who has been associated with fashion giant Alexander McQueen and David, just about everyone who’s anyone in the fashion biz were chosen launch the fresh faces in the campaign of Grace Gao, Karlina Caune, Kirsi Pyrhonen and Nur Hellman.
The press release stated the campaign was designed to, “create a platfrom on which to propel future faces into the next stage of their careers” and a portfolio with big names like Katy and David is sure to journey above and beyond.
The collection certainly had a rock ‘n’ roll London girl vibe with tartan coat and dress along with leather and fur. Jewellery was absent and make up minimal to emulate the brand’s new simple but strong approach with the focus on the fabric, cut,design and four personalities modelling the clothes. Shot on a simple backdrop,the concept was for consumers to identify with a certain girl as Karen Millen supports emerging fashion talent through its graduate protege scheme.
The campaign embraces the old and new of British talent to create a new image for the brand using David’s ability to capture the character of his subjects through portraiture and Katy’s unique ability to see beauty before anyone else. The campaign is set to the released on the 4th of September so be prepared, for the new Karen Milllen.
