Fashion Houses Celebrating Art Attacks This Season

Find out the inspiration behind Grazia’s Big Fashion Issue.

As Fashion Weeks begin wrapping up, fashion houses such as Chanel had let loose with couture colour charts and Alexander McQueen opted for Bauhaus grids this season, with colour being all the rage.

Grazia magazines senior fashion editor Gemma Hayward, used fashions latest art attack to her advantage when putting together their Big Fashion Issue. Hayward talks about her inspiration behind the shoot:

“Prada, Celine, Alexander McQueen and Chanel – among others – focused on the subject of art this season. Fashion and art obviously go hand in hand, and while every season these two disciplines collide in one way or another, this is the first time so many of the international heavyweight brands have immersed their collections deeply in the art world.”

Hayward continues to add that with each designer, it was clearly seen that each had been inspired by a different artist or movement: with Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld had transformed Paris’s Grand Palais into an art gallery for the show. Over in Milan, Miuccia Prada, used the help of four street artists to help create her spring/summer collection.

At Celiné, known for their sophisticated look, Pheobe Philo recreated a new collection influenced by the graffiti of Brassai’s photography. Don’t forget to get your copy of the Big Fashion Issue!
