Legendary Karl Lagerfeld surprised everyone in the fashion world that he was returning the annual show Métiers d’Art back to Dallas Texas. A place where Coco Chanel visited in 1957 and was given a grand entrance to The Lone Star State.
When the iconic designer was invited by Stanley Marcus who at the time ran the Dallas-Family owned Neiman Marcus arrived in the city, she was picked up at the airport in a white Rolls Royce and given an extraordinary Texas sized party in her honor. This is was inspired Karl Lagerfeld into returning this stunning show back to the city that Coco adored so much. There is a short film called “the return” in honor of her that you can watch.
With 900 lucky invited guests, they were treated to a bar-b-que and hot dog dinner at the home of the Texas State Fair. It was almost seem that the majority of the out of town guests were fish out of water because of the previous shows which were in more spectacular venues such as Scotland and Shanghai. But Mr. Lagerfeld made sure that all guests were shown the Texas way and Chanel way.
There definitely was not a shortage of celebrities in attendance for the unveiling of the American Western-inspired Pre-Fall 2014 collection from Kristen Stewart, (who has just been named the new face of Chanel by the way) to Alexa Chung to Lily Collins. It seems as though this was THE event of the year to have attended.
