Luxury on-line vintage boutique Atelier Mayer closes after five years. The etailer was launched in 2009 by vintage lovers Carmen Haid and Alice Kodell and brought vintage into the 21st century. Vintage shops have popped up all over the country in recent years but unfortunately the time is up for this on-line store. The store, which was named after Haid’s late grandmother Klaudia Mayer, an Austrian haute couture seamstress, sold garments dating as far back ad the twenties.
There was talk of the company being sold, however nothing was confirmed. It was recently announced that the website will be closing down. Founder Carmen Haid said of the closure: “Although the adventure has been truly wonderful, an opportunity has arisen to sell the business and move on to the next chapter… All of our wonderful vintage pieces are going to a very good home.“
“It is very sad to part with Atelier-Mayer.com,” she said, “however, Madame Mayer is like a cat with nine lives, so watch this space – she will be back soon!”
Haid did not comment on what was coming up for her next, but the future for the entrepreneur looks bright. If you go onto the website, it says ‘ATELIER-MAYER.COM WILL BE BACK SOON’, so we hope Haid is right and this means they will be back up and running soon!
