When Courtney Love‘s Nasty Gal collab, Love, Courtney, dropped last week, we took back all of our recent grumbles about the fashion world’s collective obsession with a 90s style revival. To be honest, it’s hardly surprising that Courtney Love – the reigning queen supreme, the OG of grunge – is the person responsible for changing our minds about peasant tops and babydoll dresses.

Having said that, we’re not quite prepared to dress ourselves head-to-toe in 90s throwbacks like the girls in the Love, Courtney look book. Well, there’s only so many pastel shades and spaghetti straps – and, er, so much nineties – a girl can take.

For your convenience, we’ve picked out a few of the standout pieces from Courtney Love’s Nasty Gal collection and styled them for a sassy 2016 babe. We’ve thrown in some 60s, 70s and 80s influences for good measure – as we said before, there’s only so much 90s a girl can take.

Play down the built-in choker on this tiny, slinky slip dress with ankle-strap chunky platforms, statement jewellery and a flicker of dark nail polish. For added mystery, throw on a dark, wide-brimmed felt hat. Black opaques optional.
