She was announced as Rolling Stone‘s latest cover girl less than a week ago, but Kim Kardashian is on the newsstands once again today. She stars alongside Kanye West in an editorial for System Magazine, and it’s a lot more directional than that new Rolling Stone shoot.
Shot by Juergen Teller and styled by her husband, Kim dons nude underwear, some stockings and black boots, posing against a mound of dirt and some fences before rolling about in the grass. Glam.
The Internet seems divided on this one, with many questioning whether a great pile of dirt was the best backdrop Kim and Kanye could come up with (considering it was shot at a château in France, that question is valid enough). However, many critics are obviously not familiar with Juergen Teller, who is known for his stripped-back style, tending to shoot celebs away from the usual glitz and glamour in order to produce something more raw. Teller’s work forces to look at famous figures outside of world of Instagram filters and the red carpet; instead we see them in more stripped-back surroundings, which in theory should allow the subject’s personality to shine through.
