As much as we'd love to buy everyone the loveliest, chicest, most impressive gifts for Christmas, the reality is much more, er, realistic. What kind of person can afford to spend £45 on a silicone phone case, anyway? Certainly not us.

One of the beauty industry’s most poorly kept secrets is that Lidl’s Suddenly Madame Glamour perfume smells a lot like Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle. If you can get over the fact that the Madame Glamour bottle design is rather uninspired, and the cheap scent won’t last twice as long as Chanel’s, you might as well save your money – you’re only £3.99 out of pocket if you decide it’s not for you.  If the idea of giving Lidl presents out for Christmas makes you shudder, a different cheap-o option is Avon.
