Whoever said Christmas is ‘the most wonderful time of the year’ obviously didn’t have any financial issues. As much as we’d love to buy everyone the loveliest, chicest, most impressive gifts for Christmas, the reality is much more, er, realistic. What kind of person can afford to spend £45 on a silicone phone case, anyway? Certainly not us.

This is a gift guide for all of us who have ever walked into the Pound Shop and wondered whether some bubble bath with the foreign packaging is a viable gift option for your mother-in-law. This is a gift guide for people who have better things to spend their money on than Christmas gifts. Better things like beer and takeaways.

Left: Phone case, Stella McCartney, £45
Right: Phone case, Fancy Cost, £3.07

Stella McCartney’s lip-shaped iPhone covers are the ultimate stocking filler for the selfie-obsessed teen (and, let’s face it, ourselves). The only issue? While we love normally Stella’s brand ethos, we can’t quite get on board with someone who charges £45 for a piece of silicone. Sorry, Stella, but we’re going to go for the similarly shaped phone case from Fancy Cost instead. It might not be as curvy or luxe-looking, but the notable price difference makes this decision a no-brainer.
