The alternative music scene is one hell of a large place isn’t it? With ever type of sound, culture and lifestyle you could think of to be found poking around in it’s dark confides somewhere. Within it lay some truly strange creations, some more complex to understand that we even thought possible. Here at MOSH, we had a dig through and picked out 5 for your listening pleasure (or displeasure for some of them, particularly number five). If you know of any weird and wonderful genres, why not let us know in the comments?

Neoclassical Dark Wave

A sub-genre of the already creepy sounding genre that is dark wave, neoclassical dark wave is a form of music that is characterized by an ethereal atmosphere and sweet sounding female voices, with a through drenching of classical music sensibilities. It’s dark, it’s twisted and an absolute splendour to listen to (take your time with it though, songs often last between twenty and forty minutes each). We’ll leave this beautifully chilling tune from Devil Doll as our audible example here. It’s three quarters of an hour of pure musical brilliance.
