This week, Harry Styles was announced as the UK’s most followed Instagram user. With over 13 million followers, the popstar beat David Beckham (12.8 million followers) to the top spot, with bandmates Niall Horan and Liam Payne taking third and fourth place.
To honour this achievement, we thought we’d take a look back through Harry‘s Instagram account. Of course, some his pictures are rather quirky and may have left much of his following rather baffled but even more confusing (and amusing) are the comments left by fans on his posts. We found some of the best!
Harry posted this photo with the caption “Happy Birthday JMB. The King”. By this, he clearly meant Jean-Michel Basquiat, an artist and musician who tragically died aged just 27 in the 1980s. One user decided to make a few tenuous links, however, claiming he looks like “The Weekend” (at least spell it right) and because “the weekend is the only time Harry is allowed to love Louis, Larry is obviously real”. Hun, we literally have no idea how you went from this post to deciding ‘Larry’ is real but you’re logic is oh-so-off. As for the user called falling.to.dani, they’ve decided its a self-portrait…we’re so confused.
So this guy is just happily posing while sitting down to eat his dinner, but this girl decides now is the right time to send a very real warning to Harry about staying safe on stage. Given that he posted this nearly a year ago and seems fine and well, clearly the “someone who’s going to hurt you” failed at their job (thank goodness). Nonetheless, we reckon it’s important to stay alert, Harry, especially during any performance of What Makes You Beautiful.
Unless our eyes deceive us, this photo features a boat on some water with a few trees framing the photo and in the background. For some reason, this fairly dull (no offence Harry) photo brought a few bizarre comments onto the Instasphere. “Taylor swift are Zayn”… Sorry, what? Did you mean ‘is’? What’s the relevance of Taylor Swift or Zayn Malik to this post? So many questions. Equally “are we out of woods…” may be a reference to Taylor‘s song but we have no idea why she being brought into the equation. And finally, this 123hng is clearly so excited, they needed to comment three times. Nobody understands, just stop.
If anyone else posted a medicine sachet to Instagram, they’d probably get zero likes, but this is Harry Styles so of course it got 755k. Fair play. Although it’s been torn on the side, you can see it says ‘VICKS Cold’ and ‘Flu Multi-Symptom’ at the top. Yet, in their hundreds, users flocked to comment the word “condom” as seen above. Hairyselfies was so overwhelmed, they had to admit their excitement in a second comment and h4rry.l0uis (do you think they’re a fan?) asked the capitalised “CONDOM OR PILL?” despite it obviously being neither.
Ah, just when we thought we’d lost hope – the essay-style comment makes an appearance. Despite probably being too young for Instagram, the 12-year-old told the singer that it was an “emergency” and he needed to text on Facebook… Apparently “nail” dated Harry‘s sister and he broke her leg… sorry, what?! To be honest, this just proves kids shouldn’t have Instagram because it makes absolutely no sense!
