Aussie pop punkers Stand Atlantic only formed in 2014, but they’ve gained quite the following since. The band have yet to play a festival, but all that’s about to change as they head over to our shores for Slam Dunk Festival next year. Vocalist and guitarist Bonnie Fraser shared all of her expectations and excitement in our recent interview. Give it a read below.

MOSH: You’re playing Slam Dunk for the first time this year – what are you expecting from your appearance at this year’s festival?

BF: We have no idea what to expect honestly! We’ve been told its amazing and it’s something we’ve always wanted to be apart of, so the fact we’re included this year is unreal. Definitely excited to play in front of some people who have never seen us before as well as watch some bands we’ve loved for ages we’ve never had a chance to see! Just looking forward to an all round sick time to be honest!

MOSH: What is your favourite part of playing a festival vs. a gig?

BF: We’ve actually never played a festival before! Definitely think a festival show is gonna have an entirely different vibe to a regular show – I can only assume more drinking is involved, more bands to hang with and people to meet, we’re just excited to experience it all for the first time!

MOSH: How do you go about switching up your setlist for festivals?

BF: We’ve definitely built our set differently for a festival, we’re a fairly new band so we’re going in with the mindset of “hey, you might not know who we are, so we’re gonna show you what we’re about” we want grab people’s attention, and hopefully they leave with a new band they like! That’s the goal anyway!

MOSH: Do you have any new tracks/ particular songs you are excited about playing live?

BF: We’re always suprised in the best way when we play our track ‘Coffee at Midnight’ its always the song people seem to know the most and get the most rowdy for. As far as new tracks… going to have to come to our set and find out!

MOSH: This year’s lineup is amazing – who are you most excited to be playing alongside/ hoping to catch?

BF: It’s actually insane this year. Never in a million years did we think we’d be playing alongside Good Charlotte and Jimmy Eat World. Let alone all the other amazing bands playing this year. Keen to catch those two bands for sure as well as Pvris, Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes, Set Your Goals, Creeper and of course all our friends in other bands like Roam and Northlane, Milestones, plus a bunch of others – this list is gonna have the whole line-up if we state everyone we’re keen to see!

MOSH: Using only the bands on the lineup this year, can you create you dream tour?

BF: Ugh. Such a tough question. Maybe.. Good Charlotte, Four Year Strong, Set Your Goals and The Dangerous Summer?

MOSH: What are some of your best tips to surviving a festival?

BF: WATER… so much water… also take care of your friends, have a meeting spot, be respectful and eat a good breakfast.

MOSH: What exciting things have you got lined up for the rest of the year?

BF:
So much is happening but our manager will be really razzed if we told you everything… So you’re just gonna have to stay tuned, but i CAN tell you it’s all gonna be rad.
