Will Wood and The Tapeworms
Their debut, Everything Is a Lot, is a riotous, hallucinatory record that goes careening through Wood’s adventures and misadventures. Wood’s frenetic delivery jams more stories, asides, and hyper-self-aware commentary into a song than most singers could in five, and if his sheer wild-eyed speed makes singing along near-impossible in parts, it’s hard to resist the urge. SELF-iSH, their followup released in 2016, explores unsettling questions around how identity is accrued and the existence of self, but the beauty of the record and its high-spirited melodies make this the most enjoyable bad trip you’ll ever have.
