Krist Novoselic – Knocked out by his bass
Nirvana weren’t too popular at the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards. After managing to talk Kurt Cobain out of playing ‘Rape Me’ in favour of ‘Lithium’, Cobain began the set with a few chords of Rape Me to worry the producers. However, that was not the most painful part of the set, at least not for bassist Krist Novoselic.
In a stunt that Novoselic regularly performed whilst playing, he threw his bass guitar above his head, but it didn’t go quite to plan. Instead of catching the guitar and continuing to play, the bass fell on his head, knocking him to the ground. Ouch! He got up and had to be taken to hospital after for observation, but thankfully he was okay.
