Hi there, please let me first introduce myself……
I’m Mikey ‘Shiraz’ Baird. The Shiraz part is because I am vocalist in the band Mr Shiraz (you should check us out *plugplugplug). As well as being in Mr Shiraz I am also a band promoter, freelance writer and a bit too impulsive for my own good. You see, I don’t want you to think i’m a bad person, i’m truly not. I’m just excitable that’s all. Due to this fact I have done some silly things in my time, some I look back at and laugh, some I am highly embarrassed about. Last year the guilt got to me a little and so I decided to ‘confess my sins’, clear my conscience at it were. I saw it as a way to admit my wrongs to my family and friends and try give them a little insight as to what goes on in my mind. Somehow it became quite popular and so last year I brought it out as a little book.
When i began writing for this wonderful site, editor Chris thought it may be a good idea to post them up on here, serialise it as it were. I thought about it and came to the conclusion ‘what the hell!’ My mother and those close to me no longer trust me so whats a few more going to hurt. I warn you they start quite innocent but only get worse.
So here we are with part 1 of what will be my weekly confessions. Just please….. try to understand…….. i’m a good person……. Honestly!

I wont lie, I have done things in my life I am rather ashamed of. I shall start from my younger days and work my way through.
I’m sorry mum about this. When I was a young boy we lived in Golcar, a small village in the Yorkshire town of Huddersfield. It was lovely quiet area, lots of places to play, neighbours to wave at. We lived next door to Jean and Stuart and their children Stephen and Susan. They were a very shy, quiet, reserved family. They went away one summer for their first family holiday in years, they didn’t like leaving their house.
While they were away I found a dead frog and thought it would be funny to post it through their letterbox. It upset them greatly on their return home. They felt someone was targeting their family and they didn’t go away again for years. To be quite honest I don’t think they have ever been away since, somebody always stays at home. This was over 20 years ago. I told my mum that I thought it was a boy who lived local called Scott Goddard, he was a naughty boy.
It wasn’t, it was me.
