Since lead singer Corey Taylor’s new Slipknot mask was revealed, fans have been getting more and more excited about how the band’s future is shaping up.
In an interview with Full Metal Jackie, Corey Taylor has now revealed more information about the other band members new masks.
“Clown (percussionist) designed a mask that the drummer and the bass player will both wear. On one hand, they get a mask, but at the same time, it’s not the individual mask that we in the band use. We knew that any attempt to do anything like that might be taken as disrespectful, but at the same time it’s part of the way of moving, getting past the hardest steps, which is just moving on. So, we decided that we would come up with a mask that works for both the bassist and the drummer and that’s what they’ll wear on stage.”
Taylor is referring to the fact that current Slipknot drummer and bassist are both new band members to replace Joey Jordison and Paul Gray, respectively. Drummer Joey Jordison left the band last year after nearly 20 years, and bassist Paul Gray passed away in 2010.
The upcoming Slipknot album, .5: The Gray Chapter, will be the first album that the band have released since 2008’s All Hope Is Gone.
As brand new Slipknot masks continue to be revealed- because, let’s face it, they are probably one of the most exciting things about a new Slipknot album-, we take a look back at some of our favourite Slipknot masks of the past.
