Richmond, in the state of Virginia declared that September 17th shall now be known as Foo Fighters Day. The legendary rock quintet will be celebrated on this day in honour of their crowd-funded concert in the city. Everything about the funding was organised by fans who were eager to see the band return for the first show since 1998, starting an online drive and selling $50 tickets before any show had been announced.
Foo Fighters are set to release their eighth studio album Sonic Highways on November 10th.
In light of this awesome news, we got to thinking about bands we would like to give a whole day to and put together a list of 5 here.

Green Day
Green Day are quite simply punk royalty. Considering these guys have been a band for 27 years now with no splits or hiatuses, they really do need/deserve an honour like this. Even if you don’t like rock music chances are you know ‘American Idiot‘ and ‘Wake Me Up When September Ends‘, and if you do know rock music you will own at least this one album, and know all the words.
