Desaparecidos
With Bright Eyes, Conor Oberst wrote some of the most iconic indie rock songs of the 1990s. His plaintive voice and haunting delivery inspired dozens of other bands and helped spawn an entire scene. With Desaparecidos, though, Oberst has been able to let a more aggressive side out. Their two full-length records, Read Music/Speak Spanish and Payola, are an angry punk analysis of materialism, politics, and the pervasive cultural ills of modern America.
