Only reason I've ever watched the Golden Globes is due to @rickygervais – I hope he shits down everyone's neck again this year.

I will never understand why Americans find people like Ricky Gervais or James Corden being funny.. ? https://t.co/PLJIkXQGZt

Gervais has certainly not been shy about taking Hollywood’s elite down a peg or two with a wire sharp quip and it goes without saying he won’t be calming down this time around.
You either love him or hate him, but let’s take a moment to celebrate 5 brilliant things about the man behind David Brent!

The Office
It’s obvious, but it’s top of this list for a reason. The Office is perhaps one of the finest modern comedies made to date. Purely British in humor (see the American bastardisation), it felt so new and fresh at the time that even with so many shows aping its pseudo-doc style, it still tops them all.
The greater percentage of us will have experience of a workplace with the characters that Gervais presented on the show, from the lovable loser Tim, to the weird and weedy Gareth. Then there’s David Brent, a bloke trying so hard to be the cool and funny boss that he actually winds up being an arrogant and annoying prat.
We all know the David Brent dance or ‘Freelove Freeway’, but the above clip is perhaps the best display of the show’s often subtle brand of humour.
