Another horror classic, It was aired as a two-part TV movie on ABC in 1990. A group of children are haunted by Pennywise The Clown, who leeches onto their fears and transforms into their worst nightmares. He targets each of the children’s fears individually. In the second instalment, the grown-up friends must return to their home town to face their enemy after learning he has returned to pray on a new generation of children.
Although both are considered to be horror greats, Part 1 is said to be scarier than its follow up, which has been critiqued as being too melodramatic at parts. Tim Curry’s special appearance as Pennywise The Clown has received universal critical acclaim for his accurate portrayal of the sinister monster.
