A new trailer has been released for the upcoming Steve Carell film, Foxcatcher. This will mark the first time Carell will star in a serious film, which is speculated to be a potential Oscar-nominee.

In this film based on a true story, Steve Carell plays sports coach John Eleuthère Du Pont, dealing with his relationship to his students the Olympic wrestling champions, Mark and Dave Schultz (played by co-stars Channing Tattum and Mark Ruffalo). Other stars include Vanessa Redgrave Sienna Miller and Anthony Michael Hall. The film is directed by Bennett Miller, whose previous projects include Moneyball and Capote; on the screening of Foxcatcher he won Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival.

Carell, who previously was known for his comedy performances in such shows as The Office and films like Anchorman, but with the dark and foreboding tone of this trailer, we presented with his characters unflinching focus and obsession, and the ways that is channelled into his students.

Foxcatcher will be released in January 2015 in the UK.
