Warner Bros. has revealed it plans to kick off a series of Harry Potter prequels, tie-ins and spin-offs with the cinematic debut of ‘magizoologist’ Newt Scamander and his adventures with the strange creatures of the ‘Potterverse’ as he writes the titular book which will eventually become part of the Hogwarts curriculum.
‘Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them’, an educational text within the world of Harry Potter, was eventually physically penned as an accompaniment to the series by author J.K. Rowling.
UPDATE: Unfortunately, it appears that Alfonso Cuarón will not be directing the film, stating that he had a desire to “clean my palate” after years spent working on Gravity. However, Warner Bros, has resumed searching for a suitable director to take on the role and are still aiming for a late 2016 release.
